Film Mark Kermode reviews the Pirates of the Caribbean series. I just thought it would be a nice idea to contain his enmity in one place. Thanks to the BBC's rubbish approach to archiving his work, the only sniff I can get of his opinion on the first film, is this bit of text from The New Statesman which probably does the job anyway to be honest:
"And am I really the only person to have seen through the hype surrounding Pirates of the Caribbean, an ill- disciplined, laugh-free debauch (based on a fairground ride, no less) from Gore Verbinski, a talentless hack whose previous crimes against cinema include desecrating the sublime Japanese shocker Ringu with a brainless US remake?"
