"I don't know anyone in New York who doesn't say 'I'm leaving'. I've been thinking of leaving New York for... uh... thirty-five years now." -- Lou Reed, Blue in the Face.
Music For all his albums,
especially Metal Machine Music, this is my favourite Lou Reed moment, his improvisational involvement in Wayne Wang and Paul Auster's film
Blue In The Face, which was knocked together over a weekend after they'd completed shooting on their much more considered film, Smoke, utilising the same sets. He appears throughout the film offering counterpoint to the action and this hopeful YouTuber has edited all his pieces together.
