There's an option for Blogger comments now where each time someone posts they have to enter "word verifiction" - random letters that Blogspot chooses that a person has to type in as they post comments. That should stem the tide as my blog has had no comment spam whatsoever. Well, not since the first time.
However, the word verification thing can be tricked (according to Pete). We have just migrated Clock to Wordpress, which has a moderation option and other ways of stopping the spam from getting through. It's early days but it looks like it will help a lot. There is also some magic thing you can do to stop the spammers who do get through from getting any google juice, but you'd have to speak to Pete about that, because I don't understand this stuff at all.
I turned the verification thing on a few hours ago and I haven't seen any spam since -- and it was turning up about four or five times an hour. So this might work for now. Thank you.
