Life I made an appointment at the university's career service today. Big step. Although I did feel like I was making an appointment to see a shrink.

What jobs you looking for stu ?

I didn't have time to write this last night but funnily enough when I was asked what I'd like to do even if I didn't think I was qualified I was able to rattle off a list. Let's see if I can rattle it off again:

writer -- newspapers, magazines, online -- actually I think the perfect job would be to be paid for blogging but I don't even know if that's possible. Freelance film reviewer, perhaps working for one of the agencies.

researcher -- this is probably the love -- table research, phone research -- its the one thing I've always been comfortable doing and I know I'm good at

archives -- I'd love to work in film archive, the BFI, the BBC, even if its simply cataloguing the collections. I've had experience of that too and that often includes research. I suppose an ambition would be to discover a film or version of a film which had been thought lost
film education -- although not necessarily academic -- working for the BFI

film programming -- working for a festival researching and curating festivals although apparently this is a very specialist trade and there are MA courses that specifically deal with this.

The trouble is I've really no idea where to begin and I need some guidance, perhaps some suggestions for specialist agencies. But I've had such an unorthodox career I really feel trained for nothing even though I know that isn't the case.
