Elsewhere My review of Woody's new film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, has been posted at Liverpool Confidential.
It's the first film in ages that I've wanted to watch again not long after I've seen it. The dvd is already on pre-order.

a review of the film version of Frost/Nixon
Elsewhere I've had a review of the film version of Frost/Nixon published at Liverpool Confidential. I'm not engaging in hyperbole -- it is a masterpiece. Some of the most annoying criticisms I've read is that it's very talky or static or stagey. It's a film about an interview. What are you expecting?
two missives
Elsewhere Just a quick interlude to note that I've written not one but two missives about Doctor Who's The Next Doctor: this proper one at Liverpool Confidential and a rant about the podcast at Behind The Sofa.
Incidentally, this is the ident which went out before the episode on Christmas Day (listen to what Wallace says after he crashes) ...
Can't be a coincidence, surely ...

mawkish sentimentality
Elsewhere I've written about Kevin Smith's new film Zack and Miri Make A Porno for Liverpool Confidential. It's not awful, just not his best and I think I enjoyed Jersey Girl more despite that film's mawkish sentimentality. Plus I missed Jay and Silent Bob -- it doesn't seem like a proper Smith film without them.
My first piece of professional film writing
Elsewhere My first piece of professional film writing, a review, for Liverpool Confidential, of W in which director Oliver Stone somehow manages to make a boring film about George W Bush.
