Blog! Anna Pickard's blog's tenth birthday is this weekend and she's been listing, amongst other things, what she's learnt from her experience. Here's a rule I wish I'd adhered to:
"If an opportunity comes up, take it. If it goes right, then jolly good. If it doesn’t? Then at least it’s good blog material one day. Or at least a funny story for the pub."Well, at least I did it my way. Not that the end is near or anything. Plenty of regrets still to be had, I'm sure.
the things which interest her
Blog! I know it's unfashionable, but I still really like Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle newsletter which is considered by many, including the commenters under The Guardian article where this first appeared, to be a bit of a folly. Perhaps I'm easily pleased but I've even attempted a few of the recipes.
Part of the problem is the format. Paltrow is effectively blogging. She's writing about the things which interest her in the hopes that we'll be interested too the only difference is she writes about aspects of her life which granted isn't our life and her social circle which granted is other celebrities.
On that level it does that thing which personal blogging is very good at -- offering an insight into lives which aren't ours. I don't properly know anyone who lives in New York, but I wouldn't accuse them of being out of touch if they suggested some excellent restaurants in the area or nanny agencies.
I also like that, as often happens with bloggers who have the odd anonymous bully in their comments (and hello to the anonymous bully who seeds my comments who the rest of you don't see thanks to moderation) or again her version of it, after a slight existential crisis, she's decided to keep going.
Well done you. Me too.

Blog! Blogger's Blogs of Note is like the giant golden lottery hand of the blogosphere (and like the lottery one which is yet to point in my direction). Thousands of hits ensue. Blogger mayhem.

Yesterday, anonymous blogger The Tiny Leaf "a woman in flux, trying to discover who it is that I am" was visited upon by the Google god and her reaction was to delete her content and leave this short pithy notice.
Good for her.

A Moment of Moore promises to "publish something related to Alan Moore every day" and has so far included frames from Halo Jones and V for Vendetta.
Blog! Rob's The Medium is Not Enough has reached its third birthday. It's one of my favourite blogs, not least because he's turned me on to the brilliance of Joanna Page and because he's forever linking to my Doctor Who reviews.

Life I spent the afternoon chatting with Caro via ICQ, about this and that. It turns out we've sort of known each other since late 2001, from when this blog was in its infancy. We've kept in touch on and off ever since. She's one of the few people I've met online who I really wished was close by, so that we could go out and do the things that friends do, and because she just seems to understand. It's very rare. Plus I don't know anyone else who's heard of Carla Bruni.

Site News In another barnstorming attempt to jump on the bandwagon, I've also begun a del.icio.us feed to collect links that I want to get around to reading and which might not always fit within the flow of the blog proper for whatever reason. Joshua is working on a way to fit them within the main body of the weblog which will be great when it happens (and will lead to much rejoicing), but until then, try looking here if there's no action on the main site, or if you've a feed reader, you can use this just for the links ... or if you're feeling really sophisticated, try this feedburner thingy, which should combine both of them. I think.
