About Having decided to rest the My Favourite Film posts for December, there was a gap where the logobar for this blog should go. After deliberating on a few film related choices, and don't think I didn't momentarily think about trolling you all with a shot from Love Actually, Hugh and Martine waving, I settled on this instead.
It's a shot of the nativity scene that was in my bedroom two years ago. Here is the whole of the image:
Probably a few things to unpack here. The embroidered "happiness" symbol was a present from Mum about fifteen years ago. Yes, that is a Motion Picture Spock. The three wise men, Mary, Joseph and lone Shepherd Mum and I made together when I was still at infants school which I've used every year since. An old hand painted Christmas card. A snowy scene featuring the Cantina Bar from Star Wars and just off to the edge the wing of an angel designed by Quentin Blake which was printed in The Guardian's G2 supplement.
Given the success of that mission we decided to repeat it again this year. The hamper's contents have changed slightly as you can see from the M&S website but the price is still £30 (tech note: I used the same link included in last year's blog post about this to find the new page which shows inventory continuity).

Buying the items separately led to the same product (again without the box) being £10.90 cheaper.
Some notes:
(1) Part of the reason for the cheaper price is a multisave in which the Christmas Tea wound up being free. Without the discount, the hamper would have been £20.70 which is still remarkably cheaper.
The only item on both which is more expensive is the soup with an extra 5p. One of the jams has been replaced with a chutney and the whole business is £1 cheaper overall so an extent this year if you did buy it for £30 you'd be paying more for less.
That Day Here are all my non-food Christmas presents. If you'd told me even last year I'd be asking for and getting the Taylor Swift album for Christmas ... well ... I wouldn't also believe I would have also bought her previous, Red, in the Amazon sale later that day ...
Food One of our post-Christmas traditions is watching the Marks & Spencer's website watching for the hampers to reduce in price and hoping to actually by online when this happens so we can snatch one up before anyone else does. This year, I thought I'd try and pre-empt things and see how cheap the hamper we usually end up with, the Festive Cheer, is if you simply buy all the separate items and if this would be cheaper anyway.
