It wasn't until she exited the car that she realized a black bear was only a few feet away. She said the bear was fortunately far more interested in a hillside of berry bushes growing behind an apartment building than it was in her. It was an important lesson. 'I keep a bear bell on my pack when I go hiking,' said Bell." --
