New nu-Who new USA trailer.

That's more like it. Loads of dialogue, moments of charm ("They're scared of me..."), more a sense of what the performances are going to be like and a confirmation that this is a very different programme from the one which ended on New Year's Day.

But yet again ending on that iconic gun shot. And no, I don't care if it's a flare gun or whatever, it's the imagery that counts. How long before he actually carries one on his hip? Bah.

But the rest - wow. Spitfires vs Flying saucers? Where do I sign? :-)

I know! I'm very, very excited.

Doctor has carried guns lots of times before without him turning into a gun tooting moron. Talons of Weng Chiang for example- and he uses it to save Leela. After four years of him nearly fainting in moral outrage every time someone even picked up a gun, (never minding how many lives might be saved by using it) I don't care if it's a gun or flare gun.
The Doctor is like Holmes- he doesn't carry a gun because he's usually smarter than that... but he should also be smart enough to use one if he has to. Nearly all the Doctors have used missiles and bombs to blow things up, no moral outrage there.

But on the trailer itself- I am the most excited I've been since a certain someone in the know called me to tell me a new series was being made... I love the tone of it, Matt Smith as expected nails it in every scene... it has a fresh new look and Steven Moffat at the held... get out the way Rob I'm signing up first lol ;-)

Having watched some Tom Baker videos recently I feel depressed about another series of all bad special effects and no proper story.

*Really*, that's what you get from this trailer? Also, parts of the Tom Baker era were hardly cutting edge narratives. The Power of Kroll?!?

I've watched all the Hinchcliffe DVDs again and the cross over into Williams before it all went down-hill..
If Moffat can do anything it's good stories and the FX looked good from the trailer. If Moffat concentrates on story and plot (as I'm sure he will) and less on pure spectacle... I hope Jacob things should be a lot better this year. Fairy-tale over blockbuster to quote the man himself...
